Darkstar's black pelt shone navy blue as she jumped into the glittering pool to cool herself off. The few small fish in the pool swam away in fear, and she sat down on the sandy bottom. The waterfalls gurgled and fell calmly into the pool, and the birds that prefered the bright sunshine were chirping gladly in the trees. Out of the clearing, and the forest, you could even hear the ocean's waves, constantly crashing onto the beach, although today they sounded calmer than usual.

The figure was the exact opposite color of the navy blue she cat sitting in the sandy pool of water. Moving with a quikc, yet silent grace, a white she cat seemed to dance around the shadows, a blur, even in the light of day. With so many white cats in the clan, it should have been hard to figure out who this unknown feline was; but just from the way she held herself when she moved made it obvious enough. Immortalbreath, deputy of Dawnclan, had made an arrival. With her glowing white pelt, and small wiry frame, she could have been one who was chased by toms who adored her, and be the perfect cat really. She had the grace, and she had the beauty, that was for sure. Suddenly though, as Immortalbreath stopped to meet the green orbs of Darkstar, one saw her downfall. A pair of red eyes, and if you looked deep enough you could see a ring of blue under the red, gazed into the green of Darkstar's, marking her as anything else never could. Immortalbreath was an albino.
"Darkstar." With a smooth dip of her head, Immortalbreath greeted her leader, probably the only cat she had even a shred of respect for here. However, although a faint smile was on her features, her thoughts where anything but kind. So easily taken out. Here all alone; nobody would hear the screams. All I need is a bit moe poison to my claws, and then all will be right. A sudden death would be too soon though, I need to bide my time well before acting. Looking everything she was not, Immortalbreath stepped forward, stopping when she was at the edges of the shadow. Although she could go into the sunlight, she had the sensitive skin, and the light often bothered her. This had given her the image of being something dark, something that she laughed at, even though it was true enough. Not to mention the fact that the day was still rather warm, and the heat was never anything that the white she cat liked. It had always been the cold of winter, especially with the snow, that had been her element.
Immortalbreath had not broken her gaze from Darkstar's, and probably wouldn't. To break eye contact was to be weak, or so, she had told herself. Once upon a time... things had been different, personality wise. She had been bright in an innocent way, cheery, although a bit mysterious. How fast life could change; especially when everyone thought you to be dead. Oh yes, she had a story that nobody, not even her once best friend knew about.
"I don't see how you can stand the heat; even with the water." Her voice was calm, cheery in a way. And totally false...

Darkstar shrugged her broad shoulders with a fluid movement. "After a while, you just don't feel it anymore."
Immortalbreath had always had a certain air about her. Darkstar trusted her, but there had always been doubts among the clan, and even in her own thoughts, about whether or not she had made the right desition appointing her as deputy. Lightstar had told Darkstar that it was the right thing to do when he had given Darkstar her ninth life, but even Lightstar had made mistakes...
She met Immortalbreath's red eyes evenly with her crisp green ones. She knew that many of the clan doubted the deputy because of her eyes. This seemed to be a stereotype, but Darkstar remembered what her old mentor had told her. "A cat's eyes are the key to their thoughts," Darkstar wondered if Immortalbreath's thoughts were as sinister as her eyes.

"After a while, you just don't feel it anymore." A dark, and yet somehow wry, grin flickered for a moment over the features of the white she cat. Oh, Darkstar may not feel the heat, but Immortalbreath did. She felt the heat; something that was searing and burning if she just stepped into the sun for a moment too long, well enough to understand that, no, she didn't get used to it and no longer feel the burning rays of light against a pale pelt. "Maybe so for you, Darkstar. I'll keep my seat in the shadows though." Another grin; this one slightly more fanged then the last. Her thoughts were an endless circle of madness, and as the silence stretched along between the two, one would notice the silence more and more, for not a single creature seemed to dare and make a sound in fear of something happening. Tension was underlying in the air, although it wasn't as though the two were at each other's throats, that would have been uncalled for, seeing as in fact, it appeared to be as though the two were quite kind to each other, only offering a few words, nothing hostile. At least, on the outside.
Immortalbreath's first gathering would be soon, and although it wasn't said, there were many cats that were uneasy about everything. The she cat was never popular, and the thought of unleashing her on a gathering... Some cats worried about the saftey and repuation of their clan, with proper reason. For, although she would not act out too greatly, Immortalbreath did plan to make a show in some ways. Just showing up would be enough though; after all, how many sported the same orbs that she did? With her calws, so sharp and tipped with only the finest poison, and her eyes, cold, sinsiter, and calcualting, there weren't many whom wouldn't at least shiver inside when they just glanced at her. Darkstar had made a good choice for deputy, if she wanted someone to represent the sheer power of DawnClan.
Conversation, being social, it had never been for Immortalbreath. As the silence continued, she seemed to be quite at ease with everything, her red eyes not breaking contact with the green of Darkstar's. She would not turn away first. No matter how long it took, Darkstar would have to break this staredown. Torn ear flicking slightly, one of her many battle wounds, Immortalbreath just watched, knowing that it was easier then attempting a conversation. If Darkstar wanted one, she would have to provide the questions, otherwise, the dark pelted leader had better be content to just sit in silence, locked in a staredown. For although she had respect for her leader, that did not mean that she placed herself under Darkstar. Rather as an equal, but that still didn't mean that she would walk away.

After several silent moments of this tense stare, Darkstar finally turned her gaze to the waterfalls. "Is there something on your mind, Immortalbreath?"
The cool water was making her black fur stick to her pelt, and she tried to keep from scratching all over by slightly rocking back and forth through the water. The sunlight dappled the waterfalls, making them glitter and sparkle. Immortalbreath had won the staredown, but Darkstar was sane.
((sorry, kind of tired tonight. might add more later))

Internally, Immortalbreath let out a small, fanged, grin, although her features were smooth, like marble. After Darkstar had looked away, Immortalbreath had done the same, so now her red obrs were elsewhere, although at the same time, it seemed they were almost still on Darkstar. Which, in a way, would be true, for the she cat was always watching and waiting, never wanting to be caught off guard. Blinking though, she returned her gaze to Darkstar as the she cat spoke, before offering a shrug. "Just wondering what will happen when we got to the gathering without a medicine cat."
((Loss of muse, sorry.))

Darkstar refrained from wincing. DawnClan would seem weak without a medicine cat. "We must still go. What else do you suppose we do?"
She flapped her tail through the water. The drops flew into the air and landed on her dark pelt for which she was named. The sun seemed to be growing hotter by the second, and twilight was still aways off. She soon had to lie in the water just to keep cool, and luckily the pool was shallow enough that her head was above the water.
